Hello Angels,

Packaged foods in supermarket look very promising (when you don’t have so much idea about their ingredients). People think of healthy eating as dieting. Of course, this is not true. Eating healthy is not about losing weight and have a nice body.

Healthy eating is important both physical and mentally. Until three years ago, I was thinking that my diet is healthy because I was often cooking at home. Yes, I was often eating homemade foods but I was drinking coffee and tea with sugar and I was eating a lot of desserts, biscuits and chocolate. I was also eating foods with gluten and my body was reacting.  I went to doctor for it and she said I may have an allerfy to certain foods but I continued to this diet for a long time because I was thinking that it was healthy.

One day my mother decided to change her diet ( our diet was same) and I decided to join her. We eliminated gluten and sugar from our diet. We started to drink coffee and tea without sugar and eat dark chocolate instead of eating desserts and biscuits.

A few days later we started to notice benefits and we still continue to this diet. I bake bread, pizza and cake at home. I use gluten free flour and use date instead of sugar. Some of my friends prefer sugar but they like my healthy cakes.

You can enrich your healthy diet by experimenting with different foods from different cultures. A helathy diet includes foods from all major food groups including whole grains, healthy fats, vegetables, fruits and proteins.

I know healthy eating sounds difficult but you can start by replacing unhelathy foods with healthy versions.

For example I used to love potato chips. I gave myself permission to eat foods like potato chips once in a week. When I focused on healty eating and realized health benefits on my body and mind I unconcioussly replaced potato chips by homemade popcorn. I didn’t push myself to eat healthy all the time it automatically happened.

A well balanced diet provides enery you need to keep active and nutrients you need to stay strong and healthy.

The other benefits of eating healthy are;

  • Heart health

  • Maintain a healthy weight

  • Better mood and energy

  • Keep skin healthy

  • Strong bones and teeth

  • Improved memory and brain health

  • Improved gut health
