I am sure that all of you know Game of Thrones tv series. It made a final in 2019 but still its popular because of its wonderful hairstyles, stunning costumes and quotes like ‘Winter is coming’.
I stopped after watching the first three seasons. Then I decided to watch it again and stopped watching again.
Costumes and hairstyles impressed me. Clearly, Game of Thrones producer took fashion seriously which made this tv show popular. I am sure that the costume department for Game of Thrones worked really hard to create these amazing clothes.
Michele Clapton was the costume designer for the Game of Thrones. She was the lead Costume Designer from the beginning of the serios through season 5. In season 6, April Ferry became the new lead Costume Designer.
The costumes in Game of Thrones nominated for professional awards such as Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Costumes for a Series for all five seasons of Game of Thrones. Michele Clapton won twice for season 2 and season 4.
Game of Throne’s costume department was including 100 people. A team about 10 people only working on aging and wearing costumes to make look realistically used and lived in. According to Clapton these ten people including textile artists and painters to age the costumes.
Costumes are perfect way to narrate story. The costume department of Game of Thrones created unique look for each of the Seven Kingdoms which makes it easier for the viewers distinguish characters from the Seven Kingdoms.
Costume department focused on nature of each region and they gave visual details. For example, the North is very cold and not rich so the Stark’s outfits include little jewelry and heavy furs.
I didn’t watch all seasons but I remember first three seasons costumes and my favorite’s were Cersei Lannister’s and Daenerys Targaryen’s clothes.
