Hello Angels,

Spring is the season of nature and love. Days are starting to become longer, sun is shinining and roses are blooming. Rose garden in Rome is one of the best places to witness roses bloom.

Municipial Rose garden is one of my favorite spots to visit in Rome. It is open from late April until mid June. Opening of Rose garden represents arrival of Spring for me. The garden also opens on October for a few days.

Just a short walk from the Circus Maximus, you can find enchanting rose garden with over 1000 different species of roses with a spectacular view of Rome.

The garden has one of the most prestigious collections in the world. There are roses from all over the world.

The garden divided into botanical roses, classic roses and modern roses. Lower part of the garden contains roses for the Premio Roma the annual international competition, held every May to choose the most beautiful rose in Rome.

The history of rose garden date back III century B.C. Tacitus speaks of a temple (where the current rose garden stands) dedicated to the goddess Flora. The celebrations floria took place in Circus Maximus in spring time.

In 1645, the garden became a Jewish cemetery. In 1934, the Jewish cemetery moved the Verona monumental cemetery. In 1950, the place became the new municipal rose garden.

As a thank you to the Jewish comunity, the rose garden redesigned in a sacred place. A steele was placed at the entrance of the garden as a memory and the paths that divide the flower beds, took the form of the menorah.

The rose garden is also an amazing place to escape the chaos of the city and relax. It is a tranquil and romantic spot. Definitely worth a visit.
