Hello Angels,

Many people thing that living in this era is bad, but there are positive and negative aspects of living in this era as well.

Today, we have a plenty of opportunities. Technology has brought many conveniences such as It is very easy to communicate with our family/friends living in another country thanks to internet and cell phones.

Unfortunately, diseases and disorders increased with abundance and opportunities. Insomnia is one of the common sleep disorder in the world. I had insomnia years ago and it was like a nightmare. I am doing my best so that I don’t have sleep problems again.

When I had an insomnia, it was impossible to do even the smallest thing at home. My prevention of insomnia tips are;

  • Being actice – Exercise 6 days a week

  • Keeping my bedtime and wake time consistent from day to day

  • Avoid caffeine after 14:00 o’clock

  • Avoid large meals before bedtime

Create a relaxing bedtime ritual (I don’t use my cell  phone one hour before my bedtime. I read a book while I drink herbal tea  such as chamomile and I use oil diffuser for relax)

Once I read a an article about prevention of insomnia and it was telling that if you wake up during the night and can’t sleep again, don’t be stressed. Lie awake at night or walk around the house and watch something. This article really changed my approach to insomnia.

Sometimes I wake up middle of the night and I don’t push myself to sleep again. I don’t use my cell phone or walk around the house but I only lie on the bed. My mother always says to me even if you don’t sleep, lie down and close your eyes. It will make you relax even if you don’t fall asleep. I do as she says and it really works.

You can also trick your mind to asleep. For example, when you were a student, you had to stay awake at night to study. In those times, I am sure that you were feeling sleepy even you were telling yourself not to sleep. Instead of pushing yourself to sleep when you have a sleep problem, say to yourself constantly I should’t sleep. When you do that, you will sleep automatically. A few times I tried this method and it really works.
